The word Machismo is derived from Spanish and
Portuguese. In those cultures, this word refers to the belief in the supremacy
of men over women. However, the definition of the word is different in English
language. Where the word has some negative and backward connotations in those
languages; the symbolic ideology changes when this word is spoken or written in
English. Here, it means being manly.
